Many Gods
"In the beginning, the head of the Gods called a council of the Gods; and they came together and concocted a plan to create the world and people it. When we begin to learn in this way, we begin to learn the only true God and what kind of a being we have got to worship. Having a knowledge of God, we begin to know how to approach him and how to ask so as to receive an answer." -Joseph Smith Jr., Journal of Discourses, Vol.6, pg.5
“Thus saith the LORD, thy redeemer, and he that formed thee from the womb, I am the LORD that maketh all things; that stretcheth forth the heavens alone; that spreadeth abroad the earth by myself;” Isaiah 44:24
"Sons of God who exalt themselves to be Gods, even from before the foundation of the world, and are the only Gods I have a reverence for." Joseph Smith, History of the Church, Vol. 6, p. 473-479
"God himself was once as we are now, and is an exalted man . I am going to tell you how God came to be God. We have imagined and supposed that God was God from all eternity. I will refute the idea. What did Jesus do? Why; I do the things I saw my Father do when worlds came rolling into existence. My Father worked out his kingdom with fear and trembling, and I must do the same; and when I get my kingdom, I shall present it to my Father. He will then take a higher exaltation, and I will take his place, and thereby become exalted myself." Joseph Smith Jr., Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, pp. 345-48
“I am the LORD: that is my name: and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images.” Isaiah 42:8
Are there more Gods than one? Answer, "Yes, many." Joseph Smith said, "The head of the gods appointed one god for us." - June 1844, Millennial Star, p.108.
“Here, then, is eternal life--to know the only wise and true God; and you have got to learn how to be Gods yourselves, and to be kings and priests to God, the same as all Gods have done before you,3 namely, by going from one small degree to another, and from a small capacity to a great one; from grace to grace, from exaltation to exaltation, until you attain to the resurrection of the dead, and are able to dwell in everlasting burnings, and to sit in glory, as do those who sit enthroned in everlasting power. And I want you to know that God, in the last days, while certain individuals are proclaiming his name, is not trifling with you or me.” Joseph Smith, Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, Section Six 1843-44, p.346
“I want you to pay particular attention to what I am saying. Jesus said that the Father wrought precisely in the same way as His Father had done before Him. As the Father had done before. He laid down His life, and took it up the same as His Father had done before. He did as He was sent, to lay down His life and take it up again; and then was committed unto Him the keys, &c. I know it is good reasoning.” Joseph Smith, History of the Church, Vol. 6, p. 473-479
"Each God through his wife or wives raises up a numerous family of sons and daughters...for each father and mother will be in a condition to multiply forever and ever." Orson Pratt, The Seer. 1,37
"How many gods there are I do not know, but there never was a time when there was no gods and worlds." - Brigham Young , Journal of Discourses, vol. 7, p.33.
One God
"Know therefore this day, and consider it in thine heart, that the Lord he is God [Yahweh (Jehovah) he is Elohim] in heaven above, and upon the earth beneath: there is none else" Deuteronomy 4:39
"Thus saith the Lord [Yahweh] the King of Israel, and his redeemer the Lord [Yahweh] of hosts; I am the first, and I am the last; and beside me there is no God [Elohim]" Isaiah 44:6
“Hear, O Israel: The LORD(Yhovah) our God(elohiym) is one LORD(Yhovah)” Deuteronomy 6:4 (Translated from the original Hebrew.)
“I and my Father are one.” John 10:30
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. “John 1:1
"To whom will ye liken me, and make me equal, and compare me, that we may be like? Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like me." Isaiah 46:5, 9
Never compare God to man! There is none like Him! No other Gods, nobody.
"I am the LORD, and there is none else, there is no God beside me: I girded thee, though thou hast not known me: Tell ye, and bring them near; yea, let them take counsel together: who hath declared this from ancient time? who hath told it from that time? have not I the LORD? and there is no God else beside me; a just God and a Saviour; there is none beside me. Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else." Isaiah 45:5, 21, 22
"Ye are my witnesses, saith the LORD and my servant whom I have chosen: that ye may know and believe me, and understand that I am he: before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me. I, even I, am the LORD; and beside me there is no saviour." Isaiah 43:10-11
There are no other Gods. You will never be a God. He could not have been clearer.
"I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty." Rev 1:8
