Salvation by Works

"There is no salvation without accepting Joseph Smith. If Joseph Smith was verily a prophet, and if he told the truth...no man can reject that testimony without incurring the most dreadful consequences, for he cannot enter the kingdom of God"- Joseph Fielding Smith, Doctrines of Salvation, vol. 1, p.190

"But under certain circumstances there are serious sins for which the cleansing of Christ does not operate, and the law of God is that men must then have their own blood shed to atone for their sins." Bruce R. McConkie, Mormon Doctrine, 92

"Redemption from personal sins can only be obtained through obedience to the requirements of the gospel, and a life of good works." James E. Talmage, Articles of Faith, 1952, pp.478,479

He told his friends wives, and little girls that they were damned if the wouldn’t accept polygamy and marry him.

“I * * * spoke to the people, showing them that to get salvation we must not only do some things, but everything which God has commanded. Men may preach and practice everything except those things which God commands us to do, and will be damned at last. We may tithe mint and rue, and all manner of herbs, and still not obey and teach others to obey God in just what He tells us to do. It mattereth not whether the principle is popular or unpopular, I will always maintain a true principle, even if I stand alone in it.” (Feb. 21, 1844.) DHC 6:223. Joseph Smith, Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, Section Six 1843-44, p.332

You have to pay to be "worthy" to receive yourEndowment

“In relation to those who give in property for the temple. We want them to bring it to the proper source, and to be careful into whose hands it comes, that it may be entered into the Church books, so that those whose names are found in the Church books shall have the first claim to receive their endowments in the temple. I intend to keep the door at the dedication myself, and not a man shall pass who has not paid his bonus.’ Joseph Smith, Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, Section Six 1843-44, p.333

'No man who is of marriageable age is living his religion who remains single." (Gospel Doctrine p. 341)

"No man can be saved and exalted in the Kingdom of God without the woman, and no woman can reach the perfection and exaltation in the kingdom of God alone.' (Ibid.)

"The Latter-day Saints accept the doctrine that marriage is honourable and apply it as a requirement to all" James E. Talmage, Articles of Faith p. 443

Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour;” Titus 3:5-6

"Christians speak often of the blood of Christ and its cleansing power. Much that is believed and taught on this subject, however, is such utter nonsense and so palpably false that to believe it is to lose one's salvation. Many go so far, for instance, as to pretend, at least, to believe that if we confess Christ with our lips and avow that we accept Him as our personal Savior, we are thereby saved. His blood, without other act than mere belief, they say, makes us clean." LDS tract entitled, What the Mormons Think of Christ 1973, 22

But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.”  1 John 1:7

“And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood,”   Revelation 1:5

“Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:’ 1 Peter 1:18-19

“But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.” Ephesians 2:13

“How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?” Hebrews 9:14

Are these scriptures an example of the corruption in the Bible, or is it really an example of exactly how Un-Christian the LDS Church is?

"Immortality connotes life without end. Eternal life, on the other hand, connotes quality of life - exaltation, the highest type of immortality, the kind of life enjoyed by God himself. It is in the attainment of eternal life, which man must earn in mortality, that he reaches his full potentiality" (Marion G. Romney, of the First Presidency, at General Conference, October 1978, Ensign, November, 1978, p. 14).

"Man's immortality and eternal life are God's goals. (Moses 1:39.) Immortality has been accomplished by the Savior's sacrifice. Eternal life hangs in the balance awaiting the works of men. This progress toward eternal life is a matter of achieving perfection. Living all the commandments guarantees total forgiveness of sins and assures one of exaltation through that perfection which comes by complying with the formula the Lord gave us. " Spencer W. Kimball, The Miracle of Forgiveness, pp. 208-10.

Salvation by Grace

"For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:" Eph 2:8

"That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved." Romans 10:9

"For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus.Romans 3:23-4

"Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet [i.e. Who has qualified us] to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light: Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son. And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses; Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross; " Colossians 1:12, 13; 2:13, 14;
